• In the Kathmandu valley, Newar artisans make Buddhist statues using Lost wax process.
  Lost-wax process, a method of metal casting in which molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created using a wax model. Once the mold is made, the wax model is melted and drained away.
  The casted statue is rough on the surface so it is made smooth by chasing work and different motifs are carved by chasing tools. It is tedious work that required a great deal of skills and time. When the statue is finely carved, it is partially or fully gold-gilded by ancient mercury gilding. Finally, the face is painted with finely ground 24-carat gold.

The statue can be filled with special substances and fully consecrated by Buddhist monks in the Kathmandu valley.

• En el valle de Katmandú, los artesanos de Newaris fabrican estatuas budistas utilizando el proceso de cera perdida.
• Proceso de cera perdida, es un método de fundición de metal en el que el metal fundido se vierte en un molde que se ha creado utilizando un modelo de cera. Una vez que se hace el modelo, el modelo de cera se derrite y se escurre.
  La estatua fundida es áspera en la superficie, por lo que se suaviza con el trabajo de percusión y se tallan diferentes motivos con un cincel. Es un trabajo tedioso que requiere una gran cantidad de habilidades y tiempo. Cuando la estatua está finamente tallada, se dora, parcial o totalmente con un antiguo metodo de mercurio dorado. Finalmente,  se pinta la cara con oro de 24 quilates finamente molido.La estatua puede llenarse con sustancias especiales y ser completamente consagrada por monjes budistas en el valle de Katmandú.
